Rock of Ages Church is holding our first-ever community art competition! We invite you to put on your creative hats and join us as we explore the theme of “The First Christmas”. This competition is open to the public. Selected entries will be displayed in an exhibition and may also stand to win attractive prizes.

Why “The First Christmas”? Bible stories have inspired many great artists throughout history, including Michangelo and Rembrandt. Our theme for this year is “The First Christmas” and we invite participants to reflect upon the origin of Christmas - the birth of Christ as depicted in the Bible.

CONTEST INFORMATION

  • Competition Categories: Children (12 years and under), Open category (All Ages)

  • Medium: 2D artworks (e.g. acrylic, crayon, oil, watercolour, scripture calligraphy, collage, mixed media, etc.) (no digital artwork/photography)

  • Artwork size: A3 size and above is recommended. (Minimum: A4 size (21cm X 29.7cm); Maximum: 100cm X 72cm)

  • 1st Prize: Universal Studios or Kidzania Family Pass (2 adults/2 children) (*select one attraction only)

Open Category Prizes:

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  1. Who can join this art competition? Is this only for members of Rock of Ages Church?

    All are welcome. We have two categories that cater to people of all ages: Children (12 years and under), Open category (all other ages). Children’s entries need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian’s name and contact information.

  2. What kind of artwork can I do?

    You are invited to produce 2D artworks based on our theme, The First Christmas (e.g. acrylic, collage, crayon, oil, watercolour, scripture calligraphy, etc.). We regret that no digital artwork or photography entries are allowed. Please stay within our minimum (A4 size) and maximum (100cm X 72cm) artwork sizes. (A3 size and above is recommended.)

  3. What does your competition theme, The First Christmas, mean?

    All entries must depict the theme, “The First Christmas”. While Christmas is often observed today as a happy time of gift exchanges and feasting, we hope to have participants explore the origin of Christmas, which celebrates the birth and coming of Jesus Christ.

    Biblical passages that depict this theme include (but are not be limited to) Matthew chapters 1-2 and Luke 1:26-2:40. You may read these passages at www.biblegateway.com if you do not own a Bible.  

  4. How will the entries be judged?

    Judging of the artworks will be based on the following criteria:

    • Interpretation and the clarity of the theme to the viewer.

    • Creativity and originality.

    • Quality of artistic composition and overall design based on the theme.

    • Overall impression of the art.

    Selected entries will be displayed at a public exhibition at Rock of Ages Church. Judges’ decision is final.

  5. How do I submit my artwork? What is the closing date?

    • All artworks are to be submitted to Rock of Ages Church (115 Eunos Avenue #03-4, Singapore 409839) during the following operating hours:

    • Sundays: 9am - 1pm (recommended)

    • Tuesdays to Saturdays: 10am - 5pm (Closed on Mondays)

    Entries are to be accompanied by a completed Entry Form. The closing date for all entries is 24 Nov (Sun), 1pm.
