Prophetic Outlook For 2026

We have just stepped into the threshold of 2026. In recent years, we have approached each new year with fear and uncertainty. It is no different this year. The world has changed significantly and remains in constant transition. Old systems are fracturing, and new ones are emerging. To keen observers, the uncertainty has been nerve-wracking.
We wonder what lies ahead in 2026. I sought the Lord, as usual, for prophetic insights and His perspective. After all, He knows the end from the beginning, as the prophet Isaiah declared more than two and a half millennia ago. God knows exactly what will happen in 2026.
So, what can we expect in 2026?

I sense God saying that 2026 will be a year of continued shaking in the world, yet He will protect His faithful servants by hiding them in the cleft of the rock.

I am approaching the 2026 prophetic outlook a little differently this year. I will first state what I sense God is saying. Then I will consider several significant global trends in finance, geopolitics, and technology, and comment on them from an eschatological perspective and in the light of God’s prophetic word for 2026.
I sense God saying that 2026 will be a year of continued shaking in the world, yet He will protect His faithful servants by hiding them in the cleft of the rock.
2026 is not the beginning of shaking, for shaking has already begun several years ago. The intensity has been steadily building, and it will continue to rise.
People around the world will struggle to cope, but our Lord Jesus Christ will remain faithful to His faithful followers. Think of the old hymn, Rock of Ages. Its first stanza begins with these words: “Rock of Ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in Thee.” God will shield His people in the shelter of His wings. The Lord knows how to protect us.
Global Shift in Financial Infrastructure
Many financial experts warn of a global economic crisis on the horizon. There is a strong likelihood of a collapse in the US Treasury market, with the national debt having surpassed US$38 trillion and showing no sign of slowing. External factors, such as the unwinding of the Japanese yen carry trade, may trigger the collapse. The situation is precarious. Any major downside in the U.S. will severely affect the world economy and fracture the global financial system.
Amid these concerns, a significant shift in the international financial plumbing system is underway, with crypto technology poised to replace the antiquated SWIFT cross-border payment system.
With changes to legislation and policies in the U.S. and advanced economies, I believe 2026 will be the year of transition.
Real-world assets such as stocks, bonds, currencies, gold, commodities, derivatives, real estate, and many others will be tokenised. Simply put, these assets will be converted into a digital format and recorded on blockchain ledgers. Asset tokenisation will become mainstream from 2026.

Amid these concerns, a significant shift in the international financial plumbing system is underway, with crypto technology poised to replace the antiquated SWIFT cross-border payment system.

Using crypto rails, money and all tokenised value can be moved quickly and efficiently at low cost. Transfers will be completed in seconds, compared with days in the current system. Welcome to the era of the Internet of Value.
In 2026, we will also see countries, major banks, and large corporations rushing to issue stablecoins. These are digital currencies. Essentially, they are no different from CBDCs (Central Bank Digital Currencies), which are programmable and therefore transactions can be tracked.

These are significant developments for global finance, banking, and trade, as well as from an eschatological perspective.
We are familiar with the 666 mark-of-the-beast system described in Revelation 13. It is essentially a financial system designed to control all forms of buying and selling, from small retail transactions to large-scale trade settlements. As such, it will require speed and efficiency.

Monitoring and controlling monetary and trade transactions globally was not possible in the past, but the blockchain revolution will change that.

The blockchain technology has been around for more than a decade. However, resistance to it was high until recently, primarily due to a lack of understanding. When people think about crypto assets, they do not see them as useful technology but rather as speculative assets.

2026 will be a significant year in God’s eschatological calendar, yet it will largely go unnoticed. Hopefully, Christians will discern the urgency of the times as the year unfolds.

On the geopolitical front, expect continued volatility.
The Economist magazine, in its 2026 forecast, noted that Donald Trump’s presidency will be the biggest factor shaping global affairs, driven by his unpredictability in trade and foreign policy.

While Trump might be a critical factor, don’t ignore the elephant in the room. China’s ascendancy and its growing economic, military, and technological clout are reshaping global politics in ways unseen since the Cold War.
Russia, though an economic lightweight, remains a military superpower with the world's largest nuclear arsenal. Its war with Ukraine continues to cast a long shadow over Europe, which is grappling with economic and security concerns.

Given that the world is in a state of flux, without mooring or stability, it has become a more dangerous place. From now on, in 2026 and beyond, I predict we will hear of more wars and rumours of wars, signalling how close we are to the end.

The days of the U.S. as the dominant superpower are over. The world is shifting irreversibly from a unipolar to a multipolar order, with several major players, such as America, China, and Russia, each having its own sphere of influence. The rest of the nations are striking deals and forming alliances with no clear loyalty, seeking to hedge their risks and protect their economic and security interests.
Given that the world is in a state of flux, without mooring or stability, it has become a more dangerous place. From now on, in 2026 and beyond, I predict we will hear of more wars and rumours of wars, signalling how close we are to the end.
In His Olivet Discourse, Jesus warned that the end of this present age would be preceded by “wars and rumours of wars” and “nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom” (Matthew 24:6-7).
We have not yet included the ongoing tension in the Middle East, with Israel as the central actor, in the geopolitical mix. Israel is the epicentre of End-Time prophecies. We cannot ignore its geopolitical significance.
Since its independence in 1948, Israel has been on the front pages of newspapers around the world. 7 October 2023 brought renewed focus on the chosen nation of God. Since then, Israel has been engaged in military operations and wars on multiple fronts, including against Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen, and Iran.
Israel has emerged victorious from these conflicts. In 2025, American President Donald Trump brokered a 20-point peace plan for Gaza. The signatories included Israel and Hamas, along with representatives from the mediating countries, the U.S., Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey.
Despite obstacles, the peace plan will likely succeed. We shall watch what happens in 2026. This peace plan is not the one mentioned in Daniel’s seventy-week prophecy, but a type of it. Therefore, do not anticipate the Tribulation to be the next event.

I predict that by 2026, all remaining obstacles to the Gaza peace plan will be resolved, laying the foundation for a brief but comprehensive peace in Israel and the Middle East, thereby setting the stage for the Ezekiel 38-39 war.

Instead, this will be the peace that lulls Israel into complacency, setting the stage for the war prophesied in Ezekiel 38 and 39. This peace will foster economic cooperation between Israel and the wealthy Gulf states, bringing prosperity to the region.
The prophet Ezekiel set out a significant precondition for the war. The enemies “will go up against the land of unwalled villages… who live in safety, all of them living without walls, and having no bars or gates; to seize spoils and carry off plunder” (Ezekiel 38:11-12). This describes Israel living in peace and prosperity.
I predict that by 2026, all remaining obstacles to the Gaza peace plan will be resolved, laying the foundation for a brief but comprehensive peace in Israel and the Middle East, thereby setting the stage for the Ezekiel 38-39 war.
After this war, the Antichrist will broker a comprehensive peace covenant between Israel and its neighbours, guaranteeing Israel’s peaceful coexistence with them henceforth. This will mark a clear timeline for the Tribulation, the final seven years of this present age.
From a biblical perspective, 2026 will be a significant year in geopolitics.
Technological Shifts
On the technological front, expect AI, biotechnology, and clean energy technology to continue advancing at a breakneck pace in 2026 and beyond.
Development in these fields and their applications in their respective industries will continue to flourish. The world will witness epoch-defining changes in the years ahead. Life on planet Earth will become radically different, for better or worse.

The outcomes will depend on national governments and global institutions setting guardrails and establishing ethical frameworks for the use of these technologies. However, I am pessimistic because ethics invariably lags behind technological progress. Artificial intelligence and biotechnology pose the most significant risks.
In biotechnology, genetic engineering can deliver cures for previously incurable medical conditions. However, it can also open a Pandora's box of ethical issues with societal consequences.
In AI, many experts, including eminent figures such as the godfather of AI, Geoffrey Hinton, have warned that it may surpass human intelligence and reshape society in ways that are detrimental to humans.
However, the immediate concern is job losses as AI takes over repetitive tasks, including data entry, customer service, telemarketing, administrative support, and assembly-line work. Even creative roles such as graphic design will be affected.

Agentic AI is the latest evolution. While generative AI generates content, agentic AI can plan, select tools, execute tasks, and adapt its strategy with minimal human guidance.
Experts predict that 2026 will be the year of agentic AI. This is where the industry is heading, as more companies and organisations demand better outcomes from AI deployments. This development will lead to more job losses, particularly in roles that require more sophisticated skill sets.

We will witness massive disruptions in 2026 and beyond as AI capabilities continue to advance.

AI is a promising technology, but unfortunately, it will upend societies and nations. It isn't very comforting to think that AI is still in its early stages of development. Its capabilities will exceed most of our expectations in the years ahead.

While I don’t think AI will attain superintelligence with self-awareness and consciousness, I nevertheless believe it will have a profound impact on the world, with eschatological implications.
AI will enable the construction of the totalitarian control system described in Revelation 13. In addition to crypto technology, AI is another critical technology required. The AI-enabled Palantir system offers a glimpse of the capabilities of the future 666 mark-of-the-beast control system.

But do not fear, for these things foretold in Scripture must certainly come to pass. It is a sign that our redemption is drawing very near.
